RIA
Investment Advisors or Investment Counsel must be registered with the Securities Exchange Commission or their state of incorporation under requirements of the 1940 Act. You may check the record of the organization online at www.adviserinfo.sec.gov. Representatives of Investment Advisory firms (RIA) are properly referred to as Investment Advisor Representative. Principals of the firm are Representatives as well as members or proprietors of their firms. Increasingly, in colloquial use is the term RIA or Registered Investment Advisor. This is the same thing as Investment Advisor or Investment Counsel.
The benefits of hiring a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA)?
- we are compensated only by our clients
- we must put ourselves in our client's shoes
- once we understand our client's needs and desires, we customize our accumulated experience and apply it to the individual situation with the diligence we apply to ourselves
